pyroclastic flows, also called nuées ardentes (French for glowing avalanches), are highly mobile avalanches of high-temperature volcanic debris (lava blocks and volcanic ash, i.e pyroclasts) superheated volcanic gases and air that moves rapidly down the slopes of a volcano or can be channeled in the valleys.
