Je cherche à me procurer diverses documentations ainsi que des romans sur l'événement, l'époque, la vie en Martinique à ce moment-là, ainsi que la période martiniquaise de Gauguin. Pourriez-vous m'aiguiller et me conseiler? Je ne trouve pas le livre intitulé "Le désastre de la Pelée" de George Kennan: dans toutes les librairies où je me suis rendue (j'habite Aix-en-Provence, dans le sud de la France), on m'a dit que l'ouvrage était épuisé.Donc introuvable. With the recent Discovery Channel (US) documentaries on Vesuvius, Krakatau and Tambora; I'm surprised and disappointed that nobody has considered a documentary on the 1902 eruption which snuffed out over 28,000 lives in a matter of minutes. Scientifically, the 1902 Mt. Pelee eruption was important in understanding the most lethal force in a volcano's arsenal: pyroclastic flows/surges. Considering the 1902 eruption was the deadliest volcanic event in the Western Hemisphere, it deserves the attention of documentary-makers. I love your website...I just wish the webcam from the Mt. Pelee Observatory was working.

Thanks for the help. I've had to make a volcano model and presentation on a volcano of my choice which was mount pelee. Thanks it gives loads of really useful infomation. I'll definitely use it again for volcano homework.
