Mt Pelee Geological Context
Mount Pelée is the last stage of formation of the island of Martinique.

The constitution of the island started 30 millions years ago, with la Caravelle and Sainte-Anne peninsulas in the East and South.

Those are the oldest parts of Martinique. The youngest deposits of Martinique are located on mount Pelée volcano and date back to the latest eruption in 1929-1932, and are only 70 years old !...
